The goal of the lecture is to show the students the complexity of the design process and to impart basic knowledge and basic procedures for systematic machine design.
The basics of form-, position- and dimensional-tolerances as well as a short introduction to the theory of strength create an understanding of the design related cost influence of the industrial production. By means of the presentation and discussion of various basic machine elements, the basics of component design/selection with regard to function, strength and assembly will be learned.
